Bughouse Tournament + Last Meeting of Fall ‘23

The last meeting of the semester concluded with a competitive bughouse tournament. Stakes were high with sponsored prizes from SIG and chess.com including shark plushies, card sets, chess.com beanies and caps, and pawn squishies for the winners. Huge thank you to our sponsors! In addition to these prizes, first place winners will be awarded a free month of diamond chess.com membership, second place will receive platinum membership, and third place will receive gold membership!

Our sponsors also gifted us chess.com key chains, wrist bands, pens and chess stickers which were available for everyone to take. Peter, our tournament director, and Kimmy helped organize and run the tournament, which lasted for 5 quick and intense rounds with swiss pairings and 3+0 time control.

Round 4 ended with team Arturo + Ralph tied with team Ryan + Nimrod at 5 points. The dust was settled in an intense 1+0 tiebreak round with Arturo and Ralph emerging victorious, keeping their status as reigning bughouse champions! They drew two hearts over #6 on the rule board and we will leave it to our readers to guess why. Team Harvey + Max secured third place.
